Thank you Yillt! That's very good to know. All of these comments are making me feel a lot better. Unless someone comes and insists otherwise, I'll leave her be. :) I might try feeding her a bit of squash though...
(Oh, and yeah carrots are a bit hard so I grate them for her. She seems to be...
Thanks Maggie... Perhaps I'm worrying unnecessarily. I did think she would not eat if she had a digestive problem... I guess it is possible she's pooped and I missed it, but I don't think so - I've been keeping a good eye on her. Hmm...
About the food, I know Russians are meant to eat mostly...
I'm quite worried about my Russian tortoise because she has not been pooping. I believe she's only pooped once in the last two months! Should I be alarmed, and if so what can I do to help? (I'm already bathing her regularly but not quite daily). Is there some kind of laxative I can give her? Any...
UPDATE: I have been giving Coco warm baths under her heat lamp every day this week and the last two days she has been much more active, still not eating or pooping but walking around, looking alert, and peeing (with urates). Today she has started to eat again!! I don't know if she's just feeling...
Thanks both of you.. I have seen some really awesome home-made enclosures too. My only issue is I really don't have the time or skill to make one, and also I don't have the space for one much larger than this. A couple inches bigger would be fine but otherwise I won't have enough space. I know...
I am buying a new indoor enclosure for my Russian tortoise, who is 4.5 years old. I'm not sure which kind is best, and I have a fairly limited budget, can't afford more than a maximum of £60.
Do you think this one looks okay? Any advice much appreciated...
Thanks everyone for the advice. I think her house (which is home-made) is not ideal to be honest. I've decided to buy some new tortoise stuff this week, including a better tortoise table and another lamp. I'm going to have a look in the enclosures section of this forum which should be helpful...
Thanks Martaemha. She (or he! According to an article on this site I think she's actually a he) is definitely too cold. I'm just not sure how to warm her up, because my flat is cold and I can't heat it. I've already lowered her heat lamp.
Maybe I could make a lid for her house, but it couldn't...
Hi, thanks for the advice Martaemha and Yvonne (I will look in the Russian species section too). The temps I measured yesterday were: Basking: 95F, warm side 60F, cool side 60F too (!) and night time 55F. But, the night time temp was taken at midnight and I'm sure it will get colder than that in...
I think my Russian (aka Horsefield) tortoise is trying to hibernate, but I haven't planned to hibernate her and I'm am worried about her.
It's winter where I am and in the last couple of days the temperature has really dropped and I don't have any central heating. For the last month of so she...
