    House centipedes in tank

I'm relieved that they can't hurt him. I was worried for little Beans. I guess I'm going to have to be really careful. I'm not really afraid of many bugs but these things are another story. I saw the one yesterday in there and then I couldn't sleep all night lol. I never thought of them being...

    House centipedes in tank

I live in Southwestern, Ontario where we have an abundance of these things. I was in my Hermann torty enclosure earlier and found a huge one. Biggest I've ever seen. I know these bugs thrive in damp places and I have no idea if more are in there =\ I am honestly terrified of these things and...

    Help dialing in temps/humidity

I did read about the mixes but I haven't been able to find any topsoil/potting mix here in my small town in Canada without additives. Everything I've seen has perlite or other additives in it. I searched for the Nature's Care potting soil but can't find it in Canada. It must not be available...

    Help dialing in temps/humidity

I've researched on here (and posted about enclosures) and read your site and haven't seen or been told anything about not keeping Hermann's in closed chambers. I've read about not keeping them in glass tanks. I guess I missed that. I don't really have a choice now. A lot of work and frustration...

    Help dialing in temps/humidity

Sorry to post another thread. I needed specific help with temps/humidity so thought I'd post in a specific section. My new baby Hermann's is coming Wednesday morning. That gives me pretty limited time to get everything settled. I have a 50 gallon rubbermaid (temporary until my 7 foot enclosure...

[Pic] This little baby will be here Wednesday!

I am!! I hope I can get the temps right. Right now my basking spot is at 100F. I'm going to have to get a light stand for it so I can get it a little further away.

[Pic] This little baby will be here Wednesday!

So excited that I'm finally getting my little tort. The breeder is bringing him Wednesday since he'll be in town. I'm trying to get everything set up and dialed in. So far I've got a 50 gallon rubbermaid with a hole cut in the top for the MVB. The thermometer I have isn't very acurate and...

    Are these seeds okay/growing help?

I was going to just sprinkle the chia seeds into the coconut coir substrate but if that won't grow well then I can grow outside the enclosure. If I can use soil with perlite then I guess I'm okay! Thank you :) Now hopefully I can manage to grow these things.

    Are these seeds okay/growing help?

I had no idea I could just use regular dirt from outside! I feel silly, lol.

    Are these seeds okay/growing help?

Hello. I don't have a green-thumb at all but I wanted to try growing some things for the tort I'm getting in a few weeks. I've heard dandelion is safe to eat but I'm having a hard time finding seeds in Canada. Is this the right dandelion...

Help with enclosure door (closed chamber)

I just looked at the Canadian site. Not one thing popped up in the size I need and the rest were coloured mosaic glass. But! I found someone who will do them for $38 a piece so I'm going to go with them

Help with enclosure door (closed chamber)

I live in a small town. I called the local glass companies and that's where I got quoted $130. Another local company wanted $86 per piece. It's just crazy. I'm going to splurge and spend the $130 I guess, lol. Someone's going without a Christmas present! [emoji14]

Help with enclosure door (closed chamber)

Everything is much more expensive in Canada! lol. There is a hardware store that quoted me $50 per piece so I'm going to check them out tomorrow.

Help with enclosure door (closed chamber)

I thought that would happen. The acrylic was so thin that I could see it flexing a lot. I found a glass place that will cut me two pieces for $130

Help with enclosure door (closed chamber)

I like that, but is it hard to get in there for maintenance with the doors open like that?

Help with enclosure door (closed chamber)

It's for a hatchling Hermann's. Unfortunately I can't go any wider than 2 feet. My room is tiny. The size of that tank takes up almost all of it. The only other things that will fit in my room are my bed and dresser! But, as the tortoise gets older and bigger I can add a second level to increase...

Help with enclosure door (closed chamber)

I'm currently in the process of building a closed chamber enclosure but I'm stuck on the doors. Originally I was going to go with 2 pieces of glass in a track but I'm having trouble finding affordable glass. I looked into acrylic but the only sheets available locally are very thin and flimsy and...

Hatchling Hermanns basic enclosure build thread

I have to set up a temp home for my Hermann's that I'm getting in two-ish weeks while I wait for its big 2x7 enclosure to be finished. I think what you did with the glass was awesome! I can't quite tell how you attached it? Is that silicone?
