Great pictures. Makes me wish for a live feed for the babies. Just watching them eat would be fun.

    Brrr...from the cold country

So I found a note from years ago and she is a desert tortoise and female. I hope that's right, I believed the person who told me. They did say romaine lettuce was great for her, but I found out that other stuff is better. I feed her spinach, parsley, bean sprouts and last year she got some of my...

    Brrr...from the cold country

I think she's too big to be carried off, but there was a large owl here a year ago that looked big enough to carry a cat or dog off. We never had problems with it coming too close to the yard.

Here is pic. What a job, I couldn't get my own pic permissions. This is from my sister's phone and from a few years ago. She eats dandelions and I give her things like spinach and parsley.

    Brrr...from the cold country

Hi, why I asked was because this bluejay (rather large) was dancing around Dora and squawking loud. Dora was hiding in her shell and after I came out, Dora ran under the porch to her hole and wouldn't come out. I think she was scared of it but she likes other animals.

    Brrr...from the cold country

Well, so much I know. I will try for a pic today, but I would never violate a law intentionally. I thought I had some kind of tortoise. She is a pet, like my dog and there's never been much info coming to me about all this. I got her from a roommate that abandoned her and left with rent due...

    Brrr...from the cold country

We do have a pen, but sometimes when outside, she goes to the sliding door and stands up. If it opens any she stands on her two back feet and comes inside. Then she runs around the house till we chase her down. She really is speedy.

So do you think a bluejay would try to peck on a nose?

Hi there, do you mean the thistle with the purple flowers and the pricklies or sharp stickers? Do they eat the entire plant or just some of it?

    Brrr...from the cold country

PA?? wow what a challenge. I guess you have to do the "It's time to come inside" speech even in summer. Do they have doggy door type things for small crawlers?

Thank you about species specific, I did find beginners mistakes and have changed my mind about bedding. I just got new device and have to move all my pics. I'm sure everyone knows the fun of that. I love the colorings of yours and other's tortoises.

    Brrr...from the cold country

Hi, I am new to forums, so please forgive my errors in advance. I have had Dora for over 10 years and never realized there was any kind of info out there. I have searched the net about desert box tortoises and your forum has more info than I have found ever. Thank you all. Dora is a female (a...
