    general questions about diet/ lighting

Excuse me when did I ever mention join shelled warriors????? I do not recall I did. You are darn rude yourself: "I might suggest that if you think Shelled Warriors has so much better advice then we do, that you go and stay there and leave us to our crappy advice here." YET AGAIN DID I EVER...

    Substrate Question

I wasn't on about earth worms. I was on about parasitic worms. I've got a massive pile of topsoil in my garden but I cant guarantee one of the neighbours cats hasn't taken a dump can I so I don't use it. I buy packaged sterillised topsoil inside and out.

Steralised topsoil is best, as long as its steralised then get it. I[hr] Okay hadnt finished my message! [hr] Jesus done it again, right as I was saying..... I wouldn't use dirt from back yard as there is the danger of cat number 1 and 2 contamination which could result in worms. I think this...

Can tiago eat stinging nettle or common nettle?

Nettles are fine to give to a tort...... obvs the nettle with the white flowers is easier to get as it doesn't sting! Dead nettle it is called and it is the one I feed. I don't feed sting nettle much. http://www.thetortoisetable.org.uk/site/plants_19.asp?mode=main&catID=397

    Heating at night?

For Hermanns its not about not liking mats, its about Hermanns not needing mats/any extra heating if kept inside and temps do not lower than 16/15C.

    [split]Hermann question

Sorry 120grams???? Isnt that a little heavy? Or not? Mine are 14 months old and are 33g and 38g. You should aim for 2g increase in weight each month so he/she grows nice and steady.[hr] Scratch that lol I asked someone from Shelled Warriors they say your tort should be 300g if it is 11cm xx

    New to torts

Hey Alistair where abouts in UK are you from? I use a tortoise table for my two but as they get bigger I'll move them outside. Miniature green houses with cat flaps are great for them to live in or little sheds. This is a great website for weeds info...

    Heating at night?

No I dont think you would need heating at night as long as your night temps dont drop lower than 16C x P.s this is for Hermann's anyway.
