Well I'm just saying we are going to Disney World mid November. Except Hurricanes, Florida has got to have the best weather for a sulcata.

Sulcata tortoise needs home with complete setup

I can't seem to post pictures either. My question is how does the inside look? What type of heating are you using? I read red lights are bad for their eyes, and also over head lights can burn their shells.

Sulcata tortoise needs home with complete setup

His shell is about 8" by 6". I think he's maybe 2 or 3 years old. But that's a guess.

Sulcata tortoise needs home with complete setup

That's a very kind offer. Trust me that if we don't find him a good home. We will continue to tend to his needs. And get it done. Last year he still fit in our little setup. Now if any ones has a picture of what you would make for a good heat box in my warm climate. That could be helpful. As...

Sulcata tortoise needs home with complete setup

Yep, he's a great pet. But our setup is just no good for him. We were going to make a heater box for him last year and just got lost in all the different types and complexity. I still say his best option is a better home............... But if no one comes around, I might ask if you have any...

Sulcata tortoise needs home with complete setup

You are so right. I've tried endlessly to find a home close by, but so far the only ones interested have no idea how to care for him. He's a great pet, but he needs more. We have the space but not the time to take care of his winter needs now that he's too big to be inside comfortably.

Sulcata tortoise needs home with complete setup

I don't want anything for him (or her) just a good home. You need a very large area, and a complete winter setup. That's all I'm asking. I do not want him resold, take him if you want a pet only. I am posting a current picture, we are located in the new orleans area now.

Rocky is growing fast, but we have a new problem

Thanks for the reply. Seems like a lot to do for a year, guess roach motels sound better. Also unlike other areas our Temps can swing greatly in just a few hours. So I think he would have to be able to get out a well sealed area if the Temps got uncomfortable for him.

Rocky is growing fast, but we have a new problem

Here are two pics to show his setup. You can see he's under the che lamp now, but this is not well sealed. He still has a Hugh outdoor grass run. So he's only in here at night or when the weather is bad.

Rocky is growing fast, but we have a new problem

Our little rocky is almost a pound, and seems healthy and happy. But we have a new problem with his enclosure. It has been in our bedroom which is by a outside door. With the high humdity it has become a haven for every little critter that sneaks in that door. This last time I changed the...

I so feel for your daughter, my 7 year old loves this tortoise we found a few months back. I'm new here, but just thought I'd post and put in my two cent. Please ask neighbors and put up posters farther than you think he'd go. We found our Tortoise at our front door and for a month, I posted and...

    Sulcata shell growth question

When I first started looking on this forum I found most of the sulcatas to be much darker then this one. At first I thought Rocky must be in bad shape, poor growth and such, lol, talk about knowing nothing. Then I realized there are different variations, I guess the same for any living thing.

    Sulcata shell growth question

This is so true. But everyone- thanks for your incredible wealth of knowledge. You know I can read something on the net and not realize it's outdated or just wrong. Here I get a wealth of current information from people who are actually housing and tending to tortoises too. Poor rocky would be...

    Sulcata shell growth question

I know too much protein is bad for sulcatas, but not quite sure what it does over time. Or how much is too much. It's everywhere, for years we put weed killer down, but it just comes back, so we gave up. Now with Rocky, can't use weed killer, or fire ant killer. Both are huge problems around...
