Is it time to bring my (6-8 month old) hatchlings indoors?

Ok sounds good. This is awesome I'm learning a lot. They have a pond to bask in but I still force them to soak in a tub of water daily. How can I avoid hibernating them?

That's relieving. I'll just make sure they have as much food as they need then. Thanks for the reply!

Is it time to bring my (6-8 month old) hatchlings indoors?

In case you don't know, I have two young (about half a year old) western box turtles (terrapene ornata) which are outside in a 4' x 8' enclosure. Here in El Paso, TX it is in the mid 80s all day and mid 50s at night. They have a foot of loose ground to dig themselves into, but I find that they...

Outdoor Tortoise/Box Turtle Enclosure - Work in Progress

It's been a while, I've made some upgrades for my Lil guys. Made a concrete pond for them to hydrate themselves, added some strawberry plants and lemon grass. Also made a very sturdy rock cave that will not cave in on them, one of them made it their permanent home.

No problem here is a picture, more plants will be added later. I put their food on the pink brick to trim beak but sometimes they carry their food to sand or it falls off. Thank you for that answer by the way

    Reliable and durable pond/waterfall pump

    Reliable and durable pond/waterfall pump

I intend to keep the flow from the waterfall to the base of the stream less than 2 feet high, because my enclosure is only 2 1/2 feet tall. Probably not even at that. And I understand what you are saying about the pumps decreasing after lift. So i figure I'll get a pump that can clear whatever I...

    Reliable and durable pond/waterfall pump

You've got quite a stream there and a nice space. It's very inspirational. My stream is going to be a fragment of that size, Literally. Thanks for putting real time into your answer I appreciate that. I just visited the first site you linked in and think I've narrowed it down. I'm still not...

    Reliable and durable pond/waterfall pump

I see what you're saying about going bigger, but how much bigger would you suggest? In the 1000's? Or doubling up to say 300 gph. And thanks I will find something to put it into with small holes once I install whichever one I decide on.

    Reliable and durable pond/waterfall pump

Very nice I hadn't seen or heard of that brand yet, I'm about to search a few. Do you have the pump protected with some sort of cover or can your turtles go right up to it? This forum is coming in handy already, thanks!

    Reliable and durable pond/waterfall pump

Hello all, the next step in my ornate box turtle enclosure is to add some free flowing water. I have an 8' x 4' space to work with. I intend to make a small waterfall about 8 inches high that leads to a small stream about 4-6 inches wide and eventually to their pond with a 1 1/2' diameter. I...

Outdoor Tortoise/Box Turtle Enclosure - Work in Progress

Finally finished both roof panels, so the actual enclosure is finished! Now just to add plants and flowing water besides that water bowl I have to keep changing. I made a huge mistake and had to remove the tomato plants that i found out are poisonous to my torts. I added hinges to the roof so...

What cacti/ succulents are good for tortoises?

I live in El Paso Tx and we have swamp coolers too. Our environments are very similar. Today it is 100 degrees. We have different types of cactus all over the place, have you managed to get your turtles yet?? I want to relocate a prickly pear on the side of our house into their enclosure and was...
