Looks really nice!
My tortoise destroyed my carex glass ;) but has left the yucca alone for now, sempervivems are a good idea i will have to try that in my enclosure.
Everyone always recommends to use a terracotta saucer with some pebbles in the bottom so it's not to deep.
My tortoise loves to...
Looks like you have a lot of luck growing the prickly pear cactus. had mine for a while now hasn't done anything :(
Tempted to place it outside when the weather gets warmer.
I could be wrong but the second picture down looks like a hydrangea to me :)
Which if it is, you might need to remove it: http://www.thetortoisetable.org.uk/plant-database/viewplants/?plant=170#.WMwDbvmLSUk
I scrapped the idea of having a stream, here is how it's looking at the moment :)
Still need to make a roof but i'm going to be using parts from the old enclosure, once i have got Sheldon used to the new one i will transfer him over. Don't want him to be too stressed with a new environment...
I have a 1 Year old Spur-Thighed Tortoise (Testudo graeca).
Yeah that did cross my mind, i might change the plan a little bit to have it in the middle instead.
I was hoping the filter would keep it clean for the most part, i planned to have a fine mesh with stones on top to prevent anything...
What does everything think of this design for a enclosure? (Sorry for the poor drawing :) )

Welcome to the forums!
Tortoises really don't like change so if you have only just got him it might take a while for him to get used to his new home :)
Thank you for the advice,
I have been buying shop bought mixes just to get him through the winter. Will continue with weeds and get better prepared for next year :) quite like the idea of drying out weeds during summer to use over the winter period.
Anyone else had luck with this?
Looks great!!
Just out of curiosity is the water being circulated or are you just topping the water up now and then?
This has given me a really good idea for when I build my bigger enclosure. Thinking about making a waterfall at one end and having a stream leading down to a small pond type...
Is it just me or does it look very similar to my Spur-thighed tortoise (Testudo graeca) Mine's only a one year old, judging from the picture of him in your hand i would say they are about the same size too, which is strange. Mine weighs nearly 300grams.
Hope this helps
Welcome!
Looks good, if you are looking for a plant, I placed a couple of spider plants in my enclosure, it's best to place them around the middle to help divide the enclosure up :) Also tortoises tend to walk around the perimeter and will trample on anything in it's path. I found this out the...
Hello there Chaz,
I don't have a Hermans tortoise, i have a spur-thighed tortoise, but it should work okay for yours too.
one thing i did try to get my tortoise eating again is sprinkle the juices from a home grown cucumber over the food, and he loved it!
I just had a look through your posts...
