Baby Kenyan Sand Boa Not Eating

My Kenyan Sand Boa won't eat unless I 'brain' her dinner. This involves essentially sticking something sharp through its head, which will increase the scent and hopefully the snake's feeding instinct!

    Spider Eggs

Slightly off topic, but here's a picture of my absolutely stunning female B. albopilosum since you brought that up. I suspect she's at least 10-15 years old!

What if my tortoise burrows deep and does not come outside?

It's not just the temperature, it's the shorter days that are causing them to slow down and in this case burrow away too. I'm not familiar with your climate but I'd imagine even in California you'll need to make the decision to either bring them indoors and provide them with artificial...

    YF Not Growing

I'd love to see how this progress... very well, hopefully! Do you have any pictures of the others for comparison?

    Too much humidity

I wouldn't have it at more than around 70%. You need to take great care to ensure that the enclosure doesn't get too cool with that level of humidity, especially since you're probably (correctly) allowing your tortoise to have a night time temperature drop.

    Bubbles!

Does the title of this thread refer to the fact that there are bubbles coming out of your tortoises mouth? If so, he is not scared and stressed, he is sick.

    Mouth stays open

Pets at Home in the UK sell their own brand orchid bark. It's probably slightly more expensive than what you'd likely pay for it elsewhere but it does the job.

    Questions about hermmans

Baby tortoises sleep a lot, this is normal and nothing to worry about assuming they're set up properly. On top of this, young Hermann's tortoises are small, (s)he would have a lot of natural predators in the wild and has no way of knowing that you aren't a threat. It could take a bit of time to...

    Are my tortoises Hermann?

Your friend is wrong, they are eastern Hermann's tortoises (Testudo hermanni boettgeri).

    Squeaky tort

Keeping two males together is a disaster waiting to happen, especially when one of them is sick. You need to keep them apart, and much warmer than that. Have a look at this care sheet and set them both up correctly on their own)...

    Squeaky tort

26 degrees is far too cold for his basking spot. Having a runny nose is a bad sign, he could be quite ill. You need to keep him much warmer than that. I read on your other thread that you have two tortoises, they don't live together I hope?

    Humidity??

Is 26 degrees the hottest part of the enclosure?

    Is my tortoise healthy?

Northampton Reptile Centre is absolutely fantastic, but their delivery fee is fairly steep unless you spend over £59 (in which case it's free). The website is http://www.reptilecentre.com

Help -Adopted an adult Hermann's today

I've seen lots of tortoises which people supposedly 'love and care for' that looks a hell of a lot worse than that. Take good care of him and he will be fine.
