    8 eggs, fertile or infertile?

Thanks everyone, especially Raymo. Your photos were very helpful, and I realise my eggs don't look promising. I've only candled 3 times, over a four week period, guys...forgive me please? I'm fascinated by this incredible process. Can anyone tell me if chalking continues in an infertile egg?

    8 eggs, fertile or infertile?

More photos guys. The eggs are week 4. They're still chalking over, some the entire top surface. BUT STILL no sign of veins or an embryo. Temp a steady 31-32, humidity 75%. What do you think? Keep going? Give up? Why are they still chalking? Is it the process of the eggs going bad?

Is it time to switch off the incubator?

Oh wow, okay I'll keep going. I don't think anything will come of this batch of eggs, but I'm going to be ready and far more knowledgeable for next years, if my old girl lays again. Do you have any Hermann tortoises?

Is it time to switch off the incubator?

I thought by the 4-5th week, in Hermann tortoises, if no sign of veins or an embryo, the eggs were not fertile? I was wondering, because they are still chalking, if this is just a sign of the eggs going off? What stage do I give up...for this year?

Is it time to switch off the incubator?

Just a couple of the eggs at 4 weeks incubation. They're all continuing to chalk, some almost completely. I can't see any veins or embryo, so is it time to switch off the incubator? They're Hermann eggs incubated at 31-32. Thank you everyone

Hi Chris, it's Patti from the UK. My 8 Hermann eggs are now 4 weeks into incubation. Still no obvious veins sadly. The eggs are continuing to chalk however. The first three are almost completely chalked except for the bottom. On candling they look orange. I've taken recent photos but can't...

    Eggs, day 23. Verdict?

Thank you so much Chris, I could hug you for giving me a few more days hope. Having recently recovered from cancer myself, Maude's eggs have given me a new lease of life....even if they are not fertile this year, there is always next year! May I send another photo to you in 2 weeks Chris?

    Eggs, day 23. Verdict?

Yes, I have two boys aged over 10. I'd hoped this year they'd actually reach! They've been trying for many years now! I've got the eggs in a herb ll incubator. Should I put the heat up slightly? Is there anything I can do to help them?

    Eggs, day 23. Verdict?

The eggs all started to chalk by day 2 or 3, I had high hopes that my two 10 yr old boys were large enough to have worked their magic. But still no sign of veins Is there any chance these may be fertile?

    Eggs, day 23. Verdict?

It's Patti from the UK again. These are the most recent photos when I candled my 8 eggs today. They're Hermann eggs, laid 23 days ago by my 50yr old girl, Maude. They've changed a little from a week ago, but still no sign of veins, alas. Can anyone see anything? Verdict please, fertile or...

    Guesses anyone? Fertile or infertile?

This is one of 8 eggs my old Hermann's tortoise laid 23 days ago. I've been incubating at 31-32 C and 65-75 humidity. Please put me out of my misery. All the eggs look similar. They all started to chalk within 48-72hrs. But I can't see any veins yet. Could there still be a chance they're...

    8 eggs, fertile or infertile?

Yes veins mean fertile, but day 16 and no veins yet. I'm praying so hard though. Shellfreak, what temperature do you incubate your Hermann eggs at?

    8 eggs, fertile or infertile?

Thank you so so much Shellfreak. The photo was amazing and incredibly reassuring. All the eggs started to chalk over within a couple of days, so I've been praying thats a good sign. I thought the ring of life and veins showed at about 12-16 days, so was becoming worried. I'm so happy to have...
