Sorry to hear about your situation. I've placed two orders with them so far and got my bulbs both times. The first back in July/August and recently this past December. The bulb itself puts out great #'s for UVB. How long they last aren't that great. My first one burnt around 1-2 months in. This...
ekm5015: I agree with the UVB output being significantly stronger. I actually just got a brand new Powersun today and tested it, read around 65-70/uw @ 12". I had two bad Solar Raptors blow out on my back in August I think. Even though they didn't last I don't really care. I really hope these...
LoL!!! Yes you did. Thanks again Tony for your useful info. Bob sent me an email with tracking # earlier today for my bulb. Hopefully its in soon. Were the bulbs you recieved their Solar Raptor bulbs by any chance?
I agree with Powersun being a good bulb. I'm currently running that and have been for sometime now. But when I did have the Solar Ray. The UVB readings I got from the bulb were over 3 times as strong. Probly closer to 5 times as strong. Only problem of course is it blowing out quickly. Mines...
Thanks for the info Tony.
yagyujubei..yes I understand that it might repeat itself. But from the actual uvb output I got out've my past 2 that blew were outstanding. I don't mind spending the $ if i do finally get my hands on the Mega Ray bulbs that everyone loved before the problems started to...
I'm reffering to the batch that went up for sale Nov 12, 2011. I've tried their older batch back in July which were Solar Raptors. The new bulbs are new and improved? Are they still Solar Raptors? [hr]
I purchased a bulb hoping it'd last me longer this time. But by the time I bought them they...
I've used this for the first 7 or 8 months I had my sulcata back in Sept 2010. It worked fine no problems. I eventually switched to Powersun, then Mega Ray which didn't do so well for me on the life of bulb unfortunately, then back to Powersun. Now I have a UV meter 6.2. I'm running a 10.0 CFL...
I bought a Golden Greek from Tyler back in July. My tort is also doing very well and Tyler was more than helpful. Its very difficult for me to get hands on tortoises other than Sulcatas, Red foots, Leopards and Russians here in Hawaii so I looked to purchase one online. Tyler was also very...
I've used Reptisun 10.0 compact flourescent bulbs before I started using MVB's. Worked fine with no problems. Those were the older bulbs that cause eye problems which I believe were corrected by now. I heard the actual tubes were better than the compact flourescents. I think you should be fine...
I've seen this before. I was also looking at it but the "enriched with miricle grow" made me not get it. I'm not 100% sure but I think thats some form of fertilizer. I found peat moss at Lowe's for under $15 for a huge bale. Premier makes it, organic. Try to look for that instead.
I agree. The first bulb that I was running produced outstanding #'s and didn't decay much. But from what I've read and experienced, they don't last nearly as long as they should. I'm really disappointed because I only want whats best for my torts. They do get real sun at least 4 times a week but...
I have updates on their current product for those who are interested. I bought two SB100watt bulbs in the begining of July of this year. Bulb #1 lasted me from July 11th to Aug 28th. This is nowhere near their warranty garuntee, it should've lasted me at least till February. I'm currently...
My Sulcata use to do this when I first got it. It would try to climb the hide log and flip repeatedly. My solution, I got pieces of ply board, cut it same lenght as log and made it about 4" tall. Nailed it to the sides where it would climb.
I soak all three of my tortoises everyday. Mist their shells when I am home during the day. About the digging thing, does he/she completely burry itself or digging a hole in one corner? Is that corner under the basking light? My baby Golden Greek and Hermanns completely bury themselves right...
I also hopes this doesn't offend anyone..but at first it sounded like a fart to me too haha!!! I guess cause the mouth is closed when the sound is heard.
I hand feed my baby Greek and Hermanns. I think its easier for them to eat that way. I do it untill they lose interest in eating whats in my hand then I just leave it in their food dish for them to go back to it when hungry again. I guess by doing that I know they at least ate something that day...
LoL!!!! Yes very true. I do what Tom does to his Leopards and Sulcatas. Unfortunately my Sulcata had a late start so he has slight pyrimiding, all the new growth smooth though. I've been doing that with my Hermanns also from baby so I guess its ok for my new Greek too =D
