My adult Russian ate a bite of green oak leaf that fell into his outdoor enclosure today. I bathed him and fed him some cactus to help flush it out. Can anyone tell me what the dangers are in consuming a bite of green oak leaf?

I've read that the green oak leaves are toxic, but I've seen many tortoises with oak trees of several species inside their enclosures, and it doesn't ever seem to cause a problem. I've housed my sulcatas in enclosures with oak trees, and no issues for me either. On the other hand, I've never seen a tortoise try to eat the leaves.

I have probably 50 live oaks scattered around my property. The Greeks do munch on freshly fallen leaves. Haven't had a problem with it.
