Hello!

Im wondering whether there is a method of determining a leopard tortoise hatchling’s age by their spots or their size? I got my tortoise nearly a week ago and the person I bought them off is not giving me any info on the weight they were before they left or their current age. So I’m having to go out on a limb to try and recognise how old the tortoise is.

Also they’re 32 grams, I’m not sure if this is good for a tortoise who is 6-7cm.

Any help would be amazing!

If it is 32g, it is either not very old at all (couple months) or has not grown much at all. So many factors influence growth, so you can't really tell an exact age by inspection - two that are the same age can be vastly different sizes. If it is consistently gaining weight, it is likely a couple months old. If it's not, it may be considerably older and have stalled growth due to a variety of factors(insufficient hydration, heat, nutrients, etc). Good luck with it.
