Aldabraman, is your cactus completely spine free? On a regular basis I purchase cactus pads but even the most spineless still have spines that I burn off. I once read somewhere that small spines don't bother them and they have not problem with them, but I don't believe it and wouldn't risk it. Can't imagine the even remote possibility of getting cactus spines jammed into their throat is worth it. What is your experience?

~ We have never had any issues, what we do is always wash them very well in case of any sprays, etc. We only offer the younger greener pads to our hatchlings and younger population that have no possible little spines just for this reason.

Aldabraman, What is your experience?

~ Just over one week ago i totally trimmed these cactus of all edible pads for our hatchlings, we had a good rain and this is all new growth since. If you have forethought and spend some time to plant as many pads as possible on your property, it ensures future food sources.
