"HIGH ALERT"
~ I post for this for awareness for anyone involved in the tortoise community. when any construction in your habitats it vital that you pick up all trash, nails, etc. after any crews. They either don't care or simply don't understand when you emphasize the importance of discarding nails, etc. on the ground and how toxic and/or deadly it can be if eaten. Tortoises are attracted to colors and smells naturally as food sources, minerals, vitamins, etc. When eaten and digested by any animal many things can cause internal perforations, blockages, etc. In my case, we have had many difficulties with several trades, especially the roofers. Either they don't understand English or were simply defiant again, unsure. However i will spend hours combing the area with a magnet roller and pick up anything that remotely can be an issue @ ALDABRAMAN.186128482_1399769137051202_5056083245171812146_n.jpg186141388_1399769177051198_3222042859466887778_n.jpg186018009_1399769113717871_8920373857655217771_n.jpg185668672_1399769147051201_3718355336344951670_n.jpg

Damn those nail caps look just like flattened berries. Heck even a smaller tort could gobble them up whole and that plastic won't break down. You have met the plague that has affected America- almost no one has respect for their trade.

~ Actually this has been a very big battle for the entire building process at our new location. The smaller torts are even more at risk because of how small they are and the increased changes of compaction, etc.

~ Today i did my usual day after clean up, it is hard to imagine how incredibly sloppy, careless and disrespectful these construction roofers were. I will roll the magnet roller several more times and continue to check for several days for any more aluminum nails, etc. This is a picture of my new tortoise barn for my adult breeder population.IMG_6352.JPGIMG_6326.JPGIMG_6341.JPG
