It is hot here during the day...90 to 100 but it drops to low 50's at night.
My very first box turtle was Terrapine ornata ornata...I named her Bright Eyes. She had cataracts really badly and became blind over the last several years. She was settled in and lived in a large aquarium type enclosure. She had her own outside pen and we had a good routine and she was fine. This morning I found her on her back under her CHE. Within the last 2 months she is the third box turtle I have cooked using a half log hide and a che.. She never climbed on top of the log that I ever saw but she was definitely on her back, cooked under the che. She was an adult when I got her about 20 years ago. This loss really gets to me. ****

I know the feeling Maggie. I recently lost my 40 year old Ornate almost the same way.
She fell off a log in her garden, an got wedged between the log n a rock, and baked in the sun. I wasn't home all day, so the next morning, that's how I found her.
I'm heartbroken, so Knowing how you feel about your bodies, I understand.
Yes I'm still here...

So sorry Maggie. But maybe the change in the weather also contributed and made her act so different than normal.
