Hi everyone!

My husband and I have recently acquired a (roughly) 5 year old Horsefield, newly named Ronald! We took him in whilst a friend was going through a rough break up and have sort of now adopted him!

My family had tortoises when I was young but I didn’t really have much to do with them so would love anyone’s advice on the best way to care for Ronald.

He came to us with a table approximately 4foot by 2foot (horrendously small I know!), so I have ordered a much much larger one for him so just waiting for that to be delivered.

What I’m most confused about is the best substrate to use in the table - we went to a reptile shop to ask for some advice and the lady said to have coco coir in the table with moss in the hide - is this right?!

Help!

Thank you x

Welcome! Orchid bark mix and or coco coir are good options for sure. At least they didn’t supply you with rabbit pellets or hay/straw!

Good luck n welcome.
