We have a new member who has been using the 'conversation' part of the forum who needs assistance in what to feed her tortoise. She is having trouble with English.

If there is a Spanish-speaking member who knows what to feed tortoises I'm sure she would appreciate if you would message her and maybe show her how to post on the open Forum.

Her username is - @Efrain

Thank you so much!!!

Hi, guys- I'm the one this lady has been messaging. The problems are the finer points of the language: apparently "grass" and "weed" translate to the same word in Spanish. I think I was able to help some with that. We're now into confusion between the weed "Broad Leafed Plantain" and the fruit "plantain" that resembles a banana.

Her English is really good overall, and she's reading Tom's threads on sulcatas. But I keep Hermann's and she has a 3 month old sulcata. She is having difficulty getting onto the open forum. I'm over my head here.

What if we give her scientific names and pictures?

Grass is usually hierba or yerba. Plantain is plantango.

Isn't grass/pasto what we're after, though? That's what certain tortoises eat.

My wife is Puerto Rican, I'm pretty sure they call weeds "mala hierba" in Cuba where my family is from is called "Hierba mala" some times it is spelled "yerba" but is pronounced the same. Grass is called either "pasto" "grama" "hierba or yerba" or "césped".

I haven't heard from her in over a month, and she has not responded to my query if she has contacted any Spanish-speaking members, so I don't know if she's even on the forum any more.
