They have the best quality and take great care of their tortoises, so price reflects that. If you're looking for a "cheap baby tortoise," there's less chance it will be healthy and started properly.

Aside from the cost of buying a tortoise, it's also costly to care for them. A proper sized enclosure, substrate, lights, food, vet care when needed, etc. They are not cheap pets, just something to keep in mind.
