im getting my 6 month old Russian soon and have been looking for water dishes. I’ve seen that Plant saucers seem to work the best, but I want something that’s safe for my little buddy. How does this look? are the dementions okay? If anyone has any links to ones they’ve used for a baby tort please feel free to let me know!

Greetings. Personally I have always used terracotta plant saucers picked up at WalMart. Cheap n easy. The one you have pictured seems a bit small with only a 6 inch diameter. Good luck with your new Russian.

The clay saucers work best and don't have straight sides which can be dangerous. We only recommend what is the safest.

Just don't get anything slippery with steep sides which are a tipping/drowning hazard .
Terracotta plant saucers work well because they are shallow and non slippery, I don't know about US saucers but the ones in the UK tend to have gentle outward sloping sides. If they are sunk into the substrate they are easier for the tort to access and exit.
