Baby salcuta

What is the best substrate for a baby salcuta the lady I got him from had him on a the green reptile carpet right now I have him/her on forest floor substrate

I like coconut coir the best for babies. They need high humidity, 80% in a closed chamber enclosure and the coir holds that humidity well and won't mold. It's messy but if you get it very damp and pat it down it's not so bad.

I use about an inch of coconut coir on the bottom and an inch of repto bark on top.It seems a little bit easier to remove tort droppings which i try to do on a daily basis.Do yourself and your new tortoise a favor and read Toms caresheet for baby sulcatas and follow it the best you can and it will save you a lot of heartache.

Fine grade orchid bark works best. Almost all of the care info out there is wrong. Here is the right info and a whole bunch more:
