Thank God for this forum because I just had a small heart attack. I was in the midst of feeding her with a dropper as I have been because she has been unable to eat with her beak crooked, and her bottom beak just fell off

I have seen a few other posts about this and to my surprise she's more active and ate like a champ right after it happened..almost like it feels better?...so it is true? Will this grow back?? Hopefully straight this time so I can get her eating greens...
oh my gosh is he ok

Bonnie also has a couple dark spots that have popped up on her shell..almost looks like a growth or something. I've been putting antifungal cream on them the last couple days.

The last pic is her toe

as long as the cracks in her beak are not near sensitive areas such as his eyes and not affecting is ability to eat i wouldnt worry it will take quite along time for the beek to grow back i hope you found this helpful so is he still eating
I just about did. I started screaming for my husband HER JAW FELL OFF!! WTF HER JAW FELL OFF!!!

I'm thinking that because the jaw was crooked, there were abnormal pressure points on that part of her mouth, causing it to flex.

The flexing caused it to break off, and hopefully grow back in normal alignment. I'm not surprised that she feels better. I think she was in pain before it broke.

Of course, all of this is conjecture. I don't really know what happened, but this makes sense to me.

But yes she's eating. I was in the middle of feeding her when it happened..with her dropper of baby food and after it happened she ate even more enthusiastically. This is a few days ago❤

I am just wondering - when you brought them to the vet, did they get any vitamin shots?

My water turtle's bottom beak fell off, and his nails too, and that was due to lack of vitamin A from his previous owner. I am wondering if overdosing vitamin A via shot would do something similar.

This is after
These pictures are about 1" too close to the tortoise for the lower jaw to be in focus. The best one is the first one, but the lower jaw is in a shadow and that makes it hard to see what is happening. Can you try holding the tortoise an inch or two further away from the camera so the mouth is in better focus.

Sorry to be a pain, but I cannot tell whether there is healthy tissue or necrotic bone evident from these pix.

No, not vitamins. I have been soaking her in carrot puree with water to help with her eye

Update..I fed Bonnie after work and she ate like a champ, then started her carrot soak and suddenly went limp, then came back, then went limp again. She's not back in her box and moving around a bit. I have a horrible feeling that this might be the night I've been dreading. Prayers please?????
