That is urates but it is a sign that this tortoise is, or was, too dehydrated.

How long have you had the tortoise? Do you soak every day?

I bought them on November 12th at repticon and yes I soak them for about 30-40 mins everyday. Is not to much? Should I soak them outside in the sun?

I was literally typing the same thing when I seen your message pop up Tom!

Since my sulcata came from a wonderful breeder and I follow all the recommendations on the forum I have never seen urates from him. As long as you do to then yours should be fine over a few more weeks

Looks like the tortoise was kept too dry before you got it. It is a good sign that it is passing the urates. You might see urates another time or two, but probably not again after that until your tortoise is older and you aren't soaking so much.

Soaking in the sun is fine, but make SUPER SURE that the tortoise doesn't over heat, or get too cold.

Good to know! I saw this once or twice in my newest tort when I got it, and when looking up some info on the internet I got bad info (go figure). I was under the assumption that it was just something a tort is going to do from time to time. Guess it means I’m doing something right since I haven’t seen him do it in a while :)
