I forgot to let others know who may not know. The BCC recently released their video of South Africa, which is the richest region in different tortoise species. There isn't much footage out there on some of these elusive tortoises. Highly recommended! In addition, proceeds from the DVDs helps fund some cool conservation efforts. I have all the DVDs and all of them are very cool!

Nothing that I could glean. They are pretty much like a gopher tortoise, living in what is basically the same as our Mojave desert. It seemed, the more inhospitable the area, the higher the concentration of Chacos. There are some pretty signifigant regional differences as far as size, sexual dimorphism, etc.
