Oh my goodness! So many threads in one day created by me! Jeesh, I gotta cut you some slack. Anyway, I am close to finishing my tortoise enclosure, and I was thinking about some ideas for a "bath". One idea was a terracotta bowl, but I think that will be too smooth for my tortoise to get out easily. Another idea that i had is using one of those paint holder things that you dip the paint roller into. I don't know the name, but it gets gradually deeper and it is long and it has little grooved on the bottom so the excess paint on the roller can collect. Woah! That was probably hard to picture, but I hope you got it. Ill post a picture below. I guess what I am asking is this going to be safe and not toxic for my tortoise? I would definitely buy it brand new and not used. Thanks!

Paint roller trays are a perfectly acceptable waterer. You dig away the substrate so it sits down into it.

Terracotta/ earthenware has enough grip, as long as it's not glazed.
Many use terracotta plant saucers with no problems.
