Best substrate for indoor open top enclosure

Hi guys, would like to seek your advice on best substrate for my 2 Burmese Star Tortoise.

They are currently housed in a 3ftX2ft open tub and I am planning to construct and elevated
open enclosure, 6ftX2.5ft, window height level to they are able to get some direct sunlight.
I am using organic soil as substrate right now, would orchard bark be a better substrate or
any other recommendations?

If they are babies they need fo be in a closed chamber with high humidity.

They're both 4", have no idea when they were hatched.
I assume they are 1.5 years old?

There is a humid hide box placed in their enclosure though

They need a closed enclosure and all over high humidity. Not just in the hide. These are the facts. Please post some pictures ☺️

Hello and welcome.

The best substrate is fine grade orchid bark.

Even in your warm humid country, they still need a closed chamber with the correct heating and lighting. Here is the care info:
