I have a dedicated fridge to hibernate my tortoise this year. I can manually control the temperature range, but I want to double check the temps. Does anyone know which thermometers are the most accurate, durable, and suitable for cold temps?

Hi I have 2 digital thermometers one with a long cable probe into the hybernating tortoise box and sits on a shelf in the fridge with a freeze alarm and second with a remote sensor in the fridge and the console in a visible place. I check daily both are in sync and temp as expected. When buying you need a clear dial and good temp range as tortoise needs between 5 and 10 degrees C . I would get 2 like I have for cross checks.

I use the Accu-Rite brand from Home Depot or Lowes. They work fine for me. Always use at least two of them and check them frequently.

Run your fridge for at least a week before any tortoises go in to make sure temps are stable and set where you want them.
