I'm not that far away from you, in the central valley. Another trick some people have used is to aim a hair dryer down the burrow, and they will move towards the heat.

Charlie only uses his heated house when it is cold too. He is still using this year, even though it is now 80F at 11pm. At the beginning of the cold weather, I usually have to teach him to start going into his house again. Then he will be camped out in the farthest place on our property and it takes so much cajoling to get him to go back home. It is too far away from an outlet for me to try the hair dryer trick. He is too heavy for us to lift him. He only makes this mistake a few times at the beginning of cold weather, then gets back in the pattern of using his house.

I've had Charlie since he was a few weeks old. He is now 23 years old.
