i heard that bone meal will provide calcium to your plants... does anyone know if this is true and if it is safe to use for my sulcatas buffet tub????

I used to use bone meal all the time in my gardening, but a few years ago I read that you should be very careful about inhaling the dust. I just now tried to find something about it, but this was the only thing I could find and it doesn't sound too bad:

I have no idea. But I would also like to know. I would think bone meal is used in acidic soil to balance the ph. I dont think it adds calcium to plants threw the root system.

It is lime that is used to sweeten soil. I don't think bone meal would hurt torts but I question how well they would utilize it do the grade of the meal. I think oyster shell would be a better option because the courser grade would be more attrative to them.
