Hi everyone, I think I have a female red foot which I want to start breeding. I have had experience breeding Panther Chameleons but never tortoises. I was wondering if anyone can confirm the sex of my red foot and if any could tell me if she/he is large enough to breed and 8 inches in length and still growing. Also if anyone has a fertile male red foot for sale preferably a morph but any will do please message. Thanks guys this means a lot. I'm not that accurate at sexing. But from pics I have seen, it's looking male too me. Is the plastron concaved at all? I also think s/he may be too young yet to sex accurately and too breed. See what others think.

Oops, also wanted to say, Beautiful Tort:)

Thanks for your input and I forgot to get a photo of the tail I felt that was the biggest give away it was a female but manure you are right I don't know much about sexing them either.

A tail shot would help. From what I could tell if the tail, it looks long. But hard to say when you can't really see all of it.

You have a female ...... but 8" is a bit small to breed... 10-12" is more the needed size ...

That Dual dark marking on the plastron is a marker for the Northern Species of Redfoots . .......and your right that one does look like a "phish" :p

Thanks everyone for the responses! I will get some more pictures later this morning. I am leaning more towards the fact that she is a female but I guess we will find out once I take some nicer pics.

Thanks for your input and the help I was planning on breeding her next year or a year after and to try and bulk her up a little before I attempt anything. How does that sound?

100% female...
I have a few CB by me 7 to 9 inch males that are breeding now. I have plenty of males breeding in my herd. They are also Northerns. PM me if you are interested in one of them..
Scott

As N2 TORTS stated though, she is still a few years from breeding.... Pretty tortoise.
