Greetings. I recently put a small pond in my tortoise enclosure. I have one Burmese mountain tortoise which spends almost all of his time in the pond including night times. He otherwise seems healthy and he comes out to eat. He usually sleeps in the pond. All the other tortoises occasionally take a dip or a soak. Is this bad for my tortoise? I know that this variety of tortoise likes the water but this sort of weirds me out. Thanks!

One of my Manouria emys emys does that too. She spends almost 90% of a 24 hour day in the water. In my tortoise's case it's because it's so hot here. I don't think you have anything to worry about as long as he's eating ok.

I wouldn't let him sleep there. All tortoises should be locked up at night to prevent night time varmit attacks.
