My new Russian girl likes to burrow. Last night she managed to dig down through the substrate to the liner pad at the bottom of the enclosure. She pulled back the liner enough to get under it and then burrowed all the way across the bottom.

Is this normal? She has a perfectly good hide that she seems to enjoy. It's the half-log type open on both ends. Could she be looking for something more secluded? Or does she just like to burrow?

That and climbing are their favorite things to do. I notice mine will seem to detour, especially outside, so they can climb OVER something on their walks.
They are excellent burrowers. I found lining my enclosure with shower pan liner (from Lowe's) folded up the side, and stapled, has been impervious to burrowing.
