I'm no expert, but that looks like one of the euphorbias, and they are toxic.

Nope, not in the Euphorbia family. I'm thinking cereus peruvianus.

Not toxic.

Scroll to the bottom, i got a cactus in my front yard that looks just like yours and Dean says it is edible.

Yeah! I did a little more checking around...I've got eight friends/family that have those...2 say they are edible...the others say borderline toxic...borderline is all I need to hear to say pass...
