Have you searched this forum? Someone on here has a thread on how to make them. I can't remember who:( So try searching this forum if you haven't yet.

I always thought you just mix calcium with water and out it in somthing like an ice tray. I may recall their being somthing like gelatin mix in with it to keep things together.

If you have some cuttlebone try shaving some off into smaller pieces see if he will eat them

From when it was discussed in another thread:

I use a plastic container for the mold - holds about a cup. Mix calcium with water to a barely pourable slurry and pour into mold. It shrinks a little when dry. I leave in mold about a week, and dry a bit more. At first, I was alarmed by how much they would eat, but no problems. I don't use any oil, when it drys, it won't stick. I glue it to a tile with a little calcium and water. It comes out like soft plaster of paris. My biggest yearling eats mouthful after mouthful.

I think in the UK, calcium carbonate is commonly referred to as limestone flour.

If he is already getting calcium every day, it is not MORE calcium that he needs. Too much calcium interferes with the absorption of other minerals and trace elements, and since your tortoise is getting daily calcium, he is likely imbalanced. He is trying to make up for his mineral deficiencies by eating all that other stuff.

I don't know what species you have or its age, but given your location I will guess its an adult and likely a Testudo sp. You really only need to supplement calcium once or twice a week in very small amounts for that situation. For an adult male, you probably don't need to supplement at all. Over here we have a product called "MinerAll". It is a mineral supplement, not just calcium. Several rock eaters have been stopped, or greatly slowed down using this product over here. Some Mazuri might help too. It is nutritionally balanced and will probably help to set things right.
