Hi, it's me Groot's mom!

My itty bitty but fierce Groot has been growing a lot over last 3 months. She LOVES live crickets, but also enjoys pill bugs, raspberries pumpkin puree, cooked chicken and cooked ground turkey. She wants to eat something every day, so I feed her daily, switching around all her foods. I weighed her last night and my scale (not digital) read right below 2 ounces.

First I was afraid because she wasn't eating much and now I'm afraid she's eating to much and growing to fast. She is very active, eats out of my hand, swims during her soaks and loves to have her head rubbed.

Please tell me your thoughts, I am a 1st time turtle mom and want to do the best for my Groot. Thank you!

I bet she is just fine. It’s a good thing that she is so interactive with you. And Adorable to boot :)

It's prime growing season for young box turtles right now. During the summer, food is more readily available in nature, and temperatures are plenty warm enough for box turtles to be active and to digest...and grow! :)

Her appetite will probably taper off as temperatures get cooler and the days get shorter.

In the wild they eat if/as food is available. It’s PRIME Summer eating and food time and I’m sure all the baby boxies are gobbling up food to grow and get strong before Winter. Full speed eating.
