Can anyone tell me what these white lines are from?

My guess is mineral deposits maybe? I think they might go away with higher humidity, its sitting at 76% right now but even when I give him a bath the lines don't go away.

Those aren't growth lines. Looks like your little one is already starting to marble. I could be wrong, though.

Nice pictures from the crew here but sorry to advise while there may be some marbling going on higher up,
the white areas on the marginal scutes appear to be shell fungus or perhaps mineral deposits as you surmised.
Marbling and growth lines would appear along the outermost scute borders first.
A better picture would help tell for sure.
And include a picure of the plastron.

Well I have to disagree…..Fungus? Certain Scute start for marbling?.....

Here some other examples …I can provide tons …

Marbling on young cherryhead again NO random scute placement

If you suspect calcium deposits or salts , simply take a tissue dabbed in vinegar and wipe area. If it doesn’t come off, it’s not mineral or salt deposits. ( make sure to wipe area clean with fresh water when done)

I have redfoots and my one redfoot in particular was getting white growths between some scutes and he's never had it before. Hrs approximately 10 inches or so. I figured he was going to be a marbled redfoot but it would start white and then turned back to the normal dark brown as it expanded.

in one of my statements above I ment to say it ALL random to where it starts.
JD-my cherries are marbeling beautifully...the bigger was is really taking off. My smaller one is just now starting to get white specks of marbeling. They are beauties alright :)

I think you have a fundamental misunderstanding of how marbling occurs.
It is not visible in very young specimens but emerges along the seams between the individual scutes as the tortoise grows.
As the tortoise grows the marbling expands outward from the scute border and becomes more pronounced. It does not magically pop up elsewhere.
It always occurs initially along the scute borders and becomes more visible with growth, in extreme cases extending across the entire carapace.
Marbling originates where the new growth is laid down along the borders of the scutes.

I believe the original question was about the marks on the marginal scutes which to me appear to be fungal in nature.
But without a better picture, it would probably still be a tough call without direct inspection of the turtle.

The presence or absence, and density and distribution when present, of the melanocytes and chromatophores within each layer will determine the color of the shell regardless of placement.
