Ok, it just worried me because they’re pretty sharp.

What can I feed my 4 week old? I don’t have any tortoise food for her/him.

I grab a handful of grass and cut it with scissors. For smaller tortoises, like your 6 year old, I then cut the grass into smaller pieces and mix it in with whatever other foods they are eating that day. If you get some grass hay and start feeding your older tortoise on it, he will start to eat the hay too.

There are lots of things your baby can eat. There is food all around and you need to feed the baby lots of variety and many different things as the days go by. You can either feed a mix of things each day, or you can feed one thing per day and make it something different each day or every couple of days.

Here is a list of examples by day:
  1. Mulberry leaves.
  2. Grape vine leaves.
  3. Endive from the store mixed with some freshly sprouted wheat grass trimmings.
  4. Opuntia pad.
  5. Clover and dandelions.
  6. Rose or hibiscus leaves and flowers.
  7. A cut handful of "Testudo Mix" from Tortoisesupply.com
  8. Broad leaf plantain or narrow leaf plantain, or both!
  9. Mallow and filaree.
  10. Wild mustard leaves mixed with grass clippings and spring mix.
  11. Mazuri.
  12. Endive or spring mix mixed with soaked ZooMed Grassland Tortoise chow.
These are just a few things to consider. There are lots and lots of good tortoise foods all around.
