Hi everyone do you remember me? I asked for an ID about this Caspian Turtle. So recently my cousins called me and said that I should come and see Chompy as they call him now. So they told me that he has those kind of holes in his shell. So there was really holes and I want to know what’s wrong. Can someone please help me? Sorry if the pics aren’t clear please tell me if you want me to post new ones, and the pic of the side of his shell is of the side of his shell just being peel-able.

Greetings & Marhaba. Have they (anyone) been soaking this “turtle” in warm water? The shell might just be ultra-dry.

Some better pix of the tortoise would be good too.

I can't see the picture of the side of the turtle as it is badly out of focus. The plastron (bottom) looks like chips in the keratin. It is not active shell rot or fungus. It could be the pitting from an old case of shell rot that has healed. Looks more likely to me that the turtle is being kept where it basks on something very abrasive with sharp projections it is hitting on. How about a picture of the setup it is kept in?

Hi! So, he stays in water most of the time but it doesn’t reach to the upper part of his shell as my cousins fear he will “drown”, they keep him in 22-26 degree Celsius water and I will be getting better pics soon, ty for answering btw!

Hi so I got new pics, and is there a way of determining his age and sex? Here are pics of the side and of his shell.

Show your cousin this picture and ask him how he would like living in a closet with only a light above him:
