Chia

After several attempts to grow weeds, I failed and want to give fresh greens to my star & red foot tortoise (apart from lettuce). Planning to grow 'wheat grass' & 'chia'. I think wheat is ok, how about chia? Does anyone feed their tortoise with this? Any good? Thanks

Chia is one of the main plants included in the Mediterranean Seed Mixture sold by carolinapetsupply.com. The only thing I have against it is it grows tall with a semi-woody stem and once its that tall, the tortoises can't eat it. But if you pick off the leaves it is good food.
