My thought exactly! They clearly want some privacy...;)

With those long plastrons mating must be awkward, maybe that's why there haven't been any hatchlings yet. :p

I'm sure it's not your enclosure at fault!! :D

Nobody seems to appreciate the "milestone" here. According to my peers [ long term exotic breeders and Zoo Atlanta VP, etc. ] until recently.. no one has known anyone to successfully breed and hatch K. erosa in captivity.. in the US! I'm excited.

Clueless still...

Oh it has been done Terry :p At the Honolulu zoo in 1980 and again in 1982. They got 6 hatchlings. It's all in a very good article from Reptiles magazine, October 1998. They incubated at 83F and hatchlings emerged between 155 and 164 days.

Sorry to burst the bubble *big hug*

Either way....I forgot to congratulate you Terry. :p

Your group is thriving since you got them and it seems like things are just getting better for you and your group. Now let's get some eggs!! :D

I believe there was somebody and am trying to confirm the information. I do know Paula had one hatched that was half Erosa and half Bells.

All four of us (that I know of) that got Erosas from this same batch have been having them breeding. It's just nobody has eggs...yet.

I am not sure of the issues in the past, I would guess more that the care was wrong.

Of the four folks currently (of which Terry and I are two) who got this shipments Erosa, I got the smaller "leftover" ones, but even they are of size to lay eggs. So now size is not an issue. With these it's just time. Remember a year ago they were wild.

The group I had before these were added, had issues eating and were youngsters. They have now grown into just becoming adult size, but mine were females. One of the other guys had his group being sick/not eating, then once they were healthy, he had only males. After a couple of years of each of us working to get our animals healthy/growing and to start thinking of actively looking for mates, we got lucky with last year's shipments.
