Hi everybody, I have posted here once
about 6-7 years ago, That time too I was in a similar situation

This turtle/tortoise was found lurking near the boundary of my Gas Station here in Lucknow, India
There is no water body nearby
Could anyone tell me what this is and what should I do with it
I am open to the idea of keeping it and caring for itIMG20200910062945.jpgIMG20200910062955.jpg unless it's bad for the turtle/tortoise

On second thoughts, this probably should have been posted in the Tortoise or Newbie section

That is a soft-shell turtle. They are aquatic turtles and not the easiest to keep in captivity. If I were you, I would find the body of water closest to where you found it and let it go in the water.

ok . . .Thanks a lot
I was thinking it could also be Indian Flapshell (google)

but say if I were to keep it, what would I need to do/provide

It's not impossible for me to make some arrangements

Also, male or female ?

I don't mean to cause trouble, but that soft shell needs an expert keeper. I think personally that it's really animal abuse to take an adult turtle out of the wild and put them in a small enclosure. Please, for the life of that turtle please please release him in any body of water

The Flapshell is a type of soft-shell turtle. I know they are not a good turtle for beginners and again I highly recommend letting it go.
