Since increasing the size of my enclosure, I've wanted to increase the ambient lighting and overall UVB levels on the cool side of the box. The single 18" Zoo Med tube and hood-mount fixture wasn't cutting it. So I decided to try an $8 24" under-cabinet fixture from Walmart. I hadn't had much luck finding a T8 sized reflector here in the US, so I made my own out of 7" x 10" mylar mirror repair panels (also Walmart, car dept). Just cut pieces to size, scored along the back for the desired number of bent angles, and duct tape to hold everying together. I used the double-stick tape that came with the mylar mirrors to adhere the reflector to the fixture

Amazing the increase in lighting by just going from 15W to 17W, using and cheap open fixture, and adding the reflector.

Good thinking, glad you shared. I love thinking outside the box. Usually cheaper and usually works better:D
