Hi all, I'm new to the forum and would like a little help please.
I will try to cut a long story short.
I got a hatchling Sulcata from a breeder in the UK.
Her father weighed over 10 stone and scl of around 30".
I posted a picture of our little one on an forum and someone mentioned due to how big and highly domed she is, does she have sudanese bloodline.......I never knew there any such thing.
Spoke to the breeder and his sulcatas do not look like the ones in his local zoo which are more elongated, his are highly domed and huge.
Would anyone be able to help me at all please.
I also don't know how to post a picture via my phone on here

Hello and welcome Annie.

There is no way to know by looking. Only time will tell. If your tortoise grows past 150 pounds and keeps that high dome, then you likely have some Sudanese genetics going on there.

Thank you Tom, I'm hoping you would reply.
Louie is on 9 months old and weighs over 500 grams already.
She is 5 " scl already and doesn't seem to stop lol.
Thank you again

That is a good pace, and your tortoise looks great. Are you using the humid and hydrated methods for raising your tortoise? If yes, that could offer some insight into why your tortoise looks that way.

Yes she has a humid hide and has done ever since we got her.
She has a soak every single morning to hydrate and also to do her business aswell.
In the humid hide there is spagnham moss that is kept moist for her.
I use the vivarium for her to live in as I've found its ideal to keep the heat and humidity up.
I'm trying my very best for her.
Louie also has supervised interaction with our 3 leopards for about an hour

I posted before but I can't find the post, sorry.
My little girl is a year old on the 28th of this month and her dome is getting higher and higher and no pyramiding.
Her breeder lives near Colchester Zoo and the sulcatas there are more elongated than the ones he owns, which are shorter and a lot more domed than the zoos ones.
She is built like a tank too.
I say " she" because she was incubated to be female and barely has a tale to talk of.
Would anyone be able to shed any light on the possibility of Louie being a Sudanese.
