It seems the only place I can find pictures of bigger (12+ inch) tortoises is on YouTube, of course unless you have an Albabra. Anyone have a good size tort that we can view? Personally I'm going for the record with my Tilley, he/she is only the size of my hand, fingers extended, so its gonna be some years still...

This is Big M...the mother of Climber and Jamie! When this shot was taken (by her owner)...she was around 3' and 189lbs...and to this day remains the largest sulcata I've seen in person!

However, the breeder that sold Tom and I our Sudan babies easily has the largest herd...with the largest male specimens...each at over 250lbs.

Here's the link!

Wow! If that is an accurate weight, that is the heaviest female I've heard of.

It would be nice to see pics of some of the species that are known to reach over 12" on the large end of their size like marginateds, cherry heads, elongateds, radiateds, etc..

It seems everyone posts pics of their juveniles or hatchlings, which is fine and good too, but it would be nice to see some mature tortoises. Plus it might help give some people an idea of what they can potentially end up dealing with. I personally just got back into tortoises 7 months ago with some hatchling redfoots/cherry heads and some years back I had a group of Russians. My biggest I've had was a female Russian that was every bit of 8 to 9". Doesn't sound like much but she was quite impressive in her own right.

That is a good size russian. Same thing with mature greeks, some of those guys can get pretty big.

Tank and Leo must be related to those Sudan sulcatas. Its really a shame we (in the U.S.) have them all mixed up like we do.
