Ok what's the best substrate for a tortoise table instead of repti floor

I like plain old organic soil. You could also put a thin layer of cypress mulch on top of the soil if you are worried about the soil getting everywhere.

Ok thanks for the help the man in the pet shop sold it me in a vivarium and with alfalfa pellets

I like to keep mine between 90-95f. Pellets are not a good choice for substrate. Coco coir, soil, cypress mulch are all better choices.

I use only coco coir. It is somewhat like soil, in that it retains moisture and is fairly loose, so tortoises can dig in it. However, unlike soil, it is not made of humus, but rather of ground up coconut husks. As such, it does not come with fungi and insects, and is resistant to these pests.

Organic coco coir (like organic produce) probably makes more of a difference for the environment than for the person or animal who uses it. Feel free to get organic coco coir for its smaller ecological footprint. But as far as terrarium use, it's the same as conventional.
