Hello! We are relatively new to tortoises. We are going on two years of ownership and have a few different species. We picked up this little guy last year at a reptile show. He was being sold as "blind" as both eyes were covered. He was probably around 2 months old when we purchased him. We have three other Eastern Hermann's and this little guy looks a bit different than the rest. His shell scutes are not perfect. They were like that when he was born. The skin around one eye gradually uncovered. Late last year, the other eye started uncovering. So, he has two eyes, but we aren't sure they are actually working 100%. He still seems to bump into things. He is our most active tortoise though, and super friendly.
Does anyone have an Eastern Hermann's with an almost completely black plastron? He is around 15 months now and it is mostly all black, other than than lines between the scutes. He is unique in his own way and we love having him!
Thank you for any input!
