Do any of our members have experience with ELEPHANT GRASS?
I've seen it. But I've never been able to buy any of it. I'd like to have some in my back yard for a future tortoise pen or just for decoration.
I've ordered a pack of 30 seeds off of Amazon and in going to attempt to germinate a few to plant in the ground.
I'm not sure how well they'd do in a hot, wet climate like here.

Good luck I ordered some years ago from Etsy and it got stuck it never made it through customs.
It wasn't available as PRIME.
Supposedly it's going to arrive here next Saturday. Or about 10 days for delivery.
We'll see.
The reviews weren't great

Isn't that the stuff that grows along our salt marshes with the cattails? I just always assumed it was spread by rhizomes.....didn't even know that "seeds" were a thing. Cuttings might work better?

Need Maro2bear to chime in....he's around all our shoreline areas......he'll know.

Y orders/forgets...too. Whew, I thought I was the only one!
The worst is when you order things you've already bought......I'm guilty as sin.

Hey @jeff kushner , the stuff that has taken over the majority of our shorelines here in Maryland is phragmites. Not the same as “Elephant Grass”.

Our yard is loaded with it.

Drumroll please....
They're here.
I'm going to germinate them on damp paper towels. Then plant them in pots once they (if they) sprout.
I have no idea how fast they'll grow.

It's tall enough to hide the elephants in around 6 weeks.😁

Ok
It's been about 2 months sitting on wet paper towels. Totally wet.
NO GERMINATION. NO ANYTHING.
My experience is now the same as most of the other reviews.
1 star
So far there's also no fungus, etc. So I'm not giving up just yet.

Five months sitting on wet paper towels and THIS:

A SINGLE sprout!
I've potted it. And I don't expect much.
I even threw away the rest of the seeds.
