My girlfriend has treated me to my first ever Tortoise for Christmas.. We've named him Sheldon!

ANY tips and hints would be perfect and we're open for help/advise

Welcome, welcome and WELCOME. Lots to read up on and learn and put to good use for the overall well-being of your tort. Check out bits on best substrates to use. Most would discourage your current substrate in favor of orchid bark, coco husks, peat moss etc. substrates that retain moisture and creat better overall living conditions.

We've been looking round all sorts of shops today for some coconut coir but the pet shops are all closed!
