Hello Everyone,

I joined the forum back in August and posted a thread "Novice needs feedback an a Indoor Enclosure for a Leopard Hatchling. " I received a lot of great advise and information from many of you. I wanted to take a moment and update you on things.

I received my Pardalis Pardalis Leopard Tortoises yesterday from Rodriguez Chelonians. She is a beauty, and we named her "Fiona".

On advise from several of you I have her home set up as following:
Enclosure: Closed Chamber 4'x3'x2'
Substrate: Coco Coir
Terra Cotta water dish & Food Plate
Make Shift Hide
Heating and Lighting: CHE is plugged into a thermostat, 65 watt incandescent flood bulb on a 10 hour timer, and florescent UV tube.

I am trying to keep an ambient temperature of 80-85 degrees in the enclosure, 100 degrees under the hot spot, and 80% humidity. She seems to be eating well and very active. I am very excited to have her home. I am sure I will be making mistakes here and there. Thanks for all the feedback.56852706_2116803665039645_1260955054681096192_n.jpg 56649251_413763729423143_8084676997235605504_n.jpg 56691358_404594753669900_8934179991755685888_n.jpg 56721552_664191140689700_7649357790925815808_n.jpg

She's a beauty.

As to your closed chamber - it's very bland-looking. How about some plants, either real or fake, placed around inside there. Plants also help with the humidity. I have pothos in pots in my enclosed enclosures. Markw84 uses boston fern and pothos. Wandering jew works too.

Welcome to Fiona! She's gorgeous.

Have a look at the Enclosure threads for ideas on how to make it a bit more exciting for her.
They like the security of having plants to hide under.
Make sure they are tort safe on www.thetortoisetable.org.uk.
Spider plants are good but it is advised that if you buy from a shop, repot them in chemical free soil and allow time for any pesticides/fertilisers etc that may have been absorbed by the plant to grow out (up to a year).
