I have had my Aldabs since January and I think its way past time to have a fecal test done for them. I found a local vet that said they would do it but I was wondering a few things.

Can any vet do a fecal?
Should I just wait until they drop one or should I soak them to get it out?
Should I feed them some pumpkin first to flush any worms that may be there out?
Do I just bring it into the vet in a Ziploc?
Is there anything else I can have them tested for?
What is an average price for the work up?

Sorry for the silly questions but I have only had a fecal done on my doggy and that is just a quick poke with that stick at the vets office with me on the side lines.

Thanks
Chip

Chip, I can't tell you the price because each vet chargest different prices at least around here. I got a container to place the poo in from the vet. I would think any vet could do a fecal for worms or parasites. I would just collect a fresh regular poo sample I would not soak or feed pumpkin before hand if you want to see what is really in there. I am not sure what other tests can be done. Perhaps a vet could tell you that.

An exotic vet should do the fecal because of the specific parasites that are looked for. The test it's self is just a fecal float. I take my fecals to the vet in a ziplock for each animal.
