I'm trying to keep more food on hand for all of my zoo....Including Hornworms for my Chameleons.
The issue with the Hornworms is that if I buy 12 or more. The minimum amount you can buy and get the "cup". The worms eat all of the food that comes in the cup before I'm able to feed them to my Chameleons.
I know from my childhood in South Carolina that Hornworms are hawk (sphynx)moth larvae and they eat tomatoe and pepper plants.
So here's my question:
If I substitute live tomatoe or pepper plants for the food that comes in those cups, do those otherwise poisonous leaves make the Hornworms dangerous to feed to my Chameleons?
I've found these lizards to be pretty fragile creatures.
Thanks

Mulberry leaves, grape leaves, dandelion leaves, and collards are some safer options

I've placed some Collard greens in there.
I have some on hand for my tortoises.
But it seems like the Hornworms are not eating it.
I'll try grape leaves. I've got them too
